We LOVED our time here! The home is gorgeous (looks exactly like the pictures) and at such a wonderful location. Walking distance from the beach and just a short drive to grocery stores and restaurants. You can tell that the owner takes pride in the home and in ensuring that each guest has a wonderful time. Will definitely book again!

House exactly as described! Wonderful home away from home in the OBX. Megan checked in periodically throughout our stay, and the house had a lot of sweet touches to it that made our experience that much better. It was a perfect small walk to the beach on a designated walking path, it was close to shops and groceries and so much gear for pool and beach provided.

What an absolutely beautiful place to unwind and soak up the last bits of summer. The house was exactly as advertised, well stock and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Impeccably clean, and very cozy. We especially loved the many porch options and having private access to both the pool and the hot tub. Megan was super helpful from start to finish, and we can’t wait to return!! If 6 stars were an option - this place earned them!!

This beach home was the perfect vacation getaway for our family, including our 18 mth old grandbaby. This was the most well appointed beach house we’ve ever rented (and we’ve been renting for 40 years). Having plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, toys, pool floats was a huge help and made packing a breeze. The house had everything you would need for a baby too! The walk to the beach was 6 minutes with baby in tow. There were plenty of restaurants (La Dolce Vita was great) and food options to choose from. Megan was a great host, communicated clearly and was very responsive. We highly recommend and hope to stay here again in the future! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

This was our 2nd annual OBX vacation to Go Your Own Wave in Corolla and I cannot say enough wonderful things about this location, this home, and the home owner, Megan. She has answered any questions and requests promptly and has helped ensure we’ve had a terrific experience. The house has absolutely everything you need to enjoy a wonderful week, including sand toys and pool toys for the kiddos. Can’t wait to book again for next year. Could not recommend Megan's beautiful home more! Our extended family had a wonderful week in Corolla. The home came with literally all you could need and more especially when traveling with children. It is in a perfect location for a beach day and the pool area is amazing for hanging out with the family. We are already planning our next trip back!! 10/10 recommend. Thank you!

Our family was lucky enough to spend two wonderful weeks at Go Your Own Wave! What a marvelous find! From the moment we arrived, the house was so welcoming! We were greeted with a fun gift bag of goodies and a very generous free dozen bagels from Lighthouse Bagels for each week we stayed! How yummy! Megan did a wonderful job communicating with our family and frequently checked in to see if there was anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable. The house was so well stocked with everything imaginable! Megan did not miss anything! Our family stayed during an extremely hot week in June and thoroughly enjoyed the pool when it was too hot to venture onto the beach. Our family enjoyed morning and evening strolls on the beach and the distance to get to the beach was just amazing! We even were able to see a sea turtle's nest one evening. It was a very special two weeks, and we could not have asked for a better place to spend our vacation. When you book Go Your Own Wave, you will be treated to a wonderful oasis! We loved the views from the decks and the ample seating throughout the house. The beds were extremely comfy and everyone enjoyed their stay!! Thank you so much!! We will be back!!

Just finished up a week staying at this lovely beach house. Very accommodating for families with little ones. Providing all the supplies and equipment for babies and small children is so appreciated. Kitchen is beautiful and equipped with all you need to cook for a crowd. Long, beautiful quartz countertop peninsula was great for preparing meals and serving appetizers, and buffet style meals. Grandkids enjoyed eating their meals here too! Bedrooms are spacious with comfortable mattresses. Lots of amenities in all the bathrooms. We found we brought too much of “ our stuff” as you already provided much of it. The pool area was enjoyed by all! You can tell the owners take pride in this home and truly want their guests to feel at home. Thank you Megan for a wonderful experience!

Megan’s place was outstanding! We loved every minute of it! Great location to the beach and shops! Pool and hot tub did not disappoint. I would definitely recommend.

“Go Your Own Wave” is a well-appointed and cared for property. You can tell thought and intention was paid for all aspects of the property, whether it’s the “welcome kit” you receive when you arrive, the child safety aspects or the plethora of beach and pool toys. We’ll be recommending and looking to stay here again for a future visit to Corolla.

Felt very comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. There is an Ocean beach vibe throughout the whole house. Easy walk to the beach. Plenty of pool toys and beach gear are in the storage closet. On the one rainy day during our stay we played board games that were provided. The kitchen has everything you would want or need to make a great meal. Such a fun week. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to OBX. Thank you!

This house has so many amenities. The well appointed kitchen is fully stocked. The decks are fabulous for puppy play, coffee, reading, brunch. Lower deck for shade and upper deck for sun. The outdoor shower had great water pressure and was hot! The steps coming off the deck are convenient for taking the dogs out to the yard. The pool and hot tub were clean. Very nice -close to beach access. We appreciate that the grounds were clean and neat. The closet full of beach equipment is a super plus! If we had any needs or questions Megan was quick to respond with an answer or a solution.

We had a great stay at Megan’s place in the Outer Banks. The house was thoughtfully put together, clean and well maintained. It had all the supplies we needed from kitchen essentials to beach gear, making our stay comfortable and convenient. Megan clearly put a lot of effort into creating a welcoming space. We really enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to anyone visiting Corolla.

We had a relaxing and fun time at this house. There are so many small conveniences around every corner, so it feels like home away from home. The location was a short walk to the beach and close to shops and restaurants. The heated pool and hot tub were so nice, and the amount of pool floats and kids toys made it so enjoyable. The very best part was not having to bring a crib, high chair, baby monitor, outlet covers, etc because the owner thought of everything. We had such a nice time and would love to go back again.

This home was beautiful and everything we hoped it would be. We had a very short walk to the beach but they provide wagons to take your beach things with you. This house had everything we could need for the beach and in the kitchen. The pool was clean and a great option for us on the windy days we couldn’t get in the ocean. Shops and food are really close so that’s another plus! I rate this home 10/10.

This was a perfect family and pet friendly home. It is safe, quiet and close to the beach. We loved the decor, cleanliness, layout, pool and breeze off the top deck.

This was our family's second time renting this home! Plenty of space for a family of 15! The kitchen was just remodeled and the floors were all redone! It was beautiful. Megan is always super attentive and very easy to communicate with. House has everything you need! We will be back!

We were all impressed with the details throughout the home. From the very well stocked kitchen to the sound machine in the bedrooms to the night lights in the bathrooms. It met all our needs and exceeded our needs with regards to making sure the home was safe for the littlest family members. They had outlet covers, a crib, two high chairs which got used and also gates for the stairs! Highly impressed. Saving the best for last - our host told us she would let us know if we could access the house earlier and she ACTUALLY DID let us know! Great home Megan!

We had an absolutely wonderful family vacation at Go Your Own Wave! To begin, Megan’s guidebook was extremely thorough and helpful when getting ready for our trip. We also quickly realized how great the location of the house was— very close to groceries, shopping, and most importantly- the beach. We enjoyed the roomy, comfortable bedrooms that were well-spaced out to accommodate our large, extended family. The kitchen is completely equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals. However, our most favorite part of the house was the pool area and beach/pool gear closet. It had absolutely everything we needed to enjoy a sunny, comfortable, and lovely family vacation.

Go Your Own Wave didn’t disappoint !! We had the best time in Corolla. From the pool to the beach. It’s a quick walk and the house is beautiful. Our fav coffee spot is the top deck off the kitchen. The kitchen is top notch and has everything you need to cook like you are in your own home.

Beautifully decorated home for a relaxing family vacation. There were a dozen of us. We had plenty of room for sleeping, eating, and gathering. The home is supplied with EVERYTHING you would need or want. The owners are very thoughtful and very communicative which was appreciated. We prepared 3 meals daily and were grateful for a kitchen very well stocked. The boardwalk for the beach access is visible from the front yard. The pool water temperature was perfect making the pool area very enjoyable. We would recommend Go Your Own Wave to all :)

This home is beautiful and the pictures are true to what the home looks like in person. The kitchen is very well stocked, the only thing that was needed that we didn't find was kitchen wash clothes to wipe counters, etc.

If you have small children/infants, this home had everything that we needed (cribs, pack n' play, high chairs, booster chair, infant gates, monitors, sound machines, etc.) A lot less to pack and take from home!

Megan was WONDERFUL to work with. She answered many questions not only in regards to the home, but where we could find grocery stores, recommendations for photographers, what to see and do while on vacation, bike rentals, you name it, she was always willing to share her knowledge and experience! And I always had a response within 24 hours.

We created many memories here and would not hesitate to stay here again!

This property is prettier than the pictures show. There was so much space for everyone in our party. The pool was perfectly warmed for our chilly April visit. The kitchen was out of this world full of everything you would need for cooking, the aqua back splash was so pretty. Megan checked in and was available if needed.

Not sure how to even capture this experience appropriately in this review…GO YOUR OWN WAVE was AMAZING. I rely heavily on reviews as I book destinations for my family so I want to be very detailed in sharing my family’s stay at this property. First—the pictures are EXACTLY as the home appears in reality (they were taken incredibly recently and reflect the condition and styling of the home). Second—the location is so convenient. We were able to walk within five minutes to the Coral Beach Access stairs and bike to restaurants and shops within 10 minutes of biking time. And because I can’t have this review be pages long—I will leave you with our thoughts on the amenities of the property. The beds were new and very comfortable, the towels were plush and plentiful, every kitchen tool was present, so many beach items were available to us to use (wagons, chairs, coolers, toys), and the heated pool and hot tub just put our experience over the top. You cannot go wrong booking this property and my family looks forward to coming back!

We loved our latest stay at Go Your Own Wave! The host, Megan, was great to work with and made us feel as though this was our home away from home. The house is well-maintained and stocked with everything we needed to enjoy our Thanksgiving. We noticed many upgrades since our last visit two years ago. Our favorite was the pool heater! The water was so warm, and the kids and adults had hours of fun splashing around. We also loved that it was just a short drive to the 4x4 beaches, so we could air down and see the wild horses. Many happy memories made. We look forward to returning!

Great OBX location for families. Everything we needed for two kids under 4 with gates and crib. Pool was fun for the family and lots of pool/beach toys. Plenty of room for our family with room to spare.

This house was a great find for our friend group. Multiple floors, all with attached bathrooms so everyone could have their own space. A great spot if you have babies as they are equip with a good amount of baby related items. The best pool closet, we recommend!

The place was plenty big to accommodate our group and had a beautiful deck and screened in porch that I enjoyed. The pool was excellent and the proximity to the beach was exactly as listed. It was very close to the public beach access and a short walk. We had a wonderful time on our first trip to Corolla in the Outer Banks. Megan was very easy to communicate with via the Vrbo app.

Our stay at Go Your Own Wave was nothing short of amazing! To start, walking in, everything was extremely clean and put together. We loved the decor for such a relaxing, warm, beachy feel. There was more than enough space for our crew between the space in the house, two wrap around deck areas, and screened in portion of the deck space, in addition to the pool area. My kids also LOVED the pool and the area under the deck set up with sand and activities to play. It was the perfect morning or evening activity to keep them busy and such a perfect extra! There were well stocked supplies from the kitchen to the beach items, which made packing SO much easier. The walk to the beach was an easy one, and it was also so nice to be within a couple minute drive (or walk if you wanted) to stores, food, and Corolla activities. Lastly, communication was 5 stars, which means a lot to us, and we would recommend Go Your Own Wave to any family or group looking to make some incredible OBX memories! We can’t wait to be back!

House was clean and in good repair. SO many extras provided. Kitchen is very well stocked and bedrooms are spacious and so comfortable. Beautiful decks with great safe access for small children and dog. Pool area was a great hit and also had safe gates for young ones. Excellent family home rental for young ones and a pet. Easy beach access, beautiful neighborhood with a great beach! Would stay again in a heartbeat with my family! Owners are amazing and take great care of their beachhouse.

The communication with the property owner was fantastic, never had any issues and my questions were always answered promptly. As far as the house goes… it looks exactly as listed! Which in and of itself it’s a great thing. It’s in the perfect location, a few minutes walk to the beach and around the corner from multiple grocers and little shops. This home has everything you need (coming from a family that traveled with an infant) to ensure you can pack just a little bit lighter! I highly recommend this stay to anyone whose looking and I can’t wait to come back!!

The house was wonderful. We were impressed with how clean it was on arrival. The owner was very helpful and nice. They seem to have done a lot to update the home, and the pictures don't really do it justice to how nice it is. My kids LOVED going in the color changing hot tub each night. The neighborhood and proximity to the beach were outstanding. We loved all the decks. We could feel the stress melt away as we sat out there and enjoyed the view and peacefulness of sunrise and sunset. This was our first time vacationing in OBX and this experience convinced us to return in the future. Overall and easy and fun New Year celebration!

We wanted to try something different this year so we decided to spend Christmas at the beach. The house was spacious and very clean when we arrived. It was well furnished and the kitchen was fully equipped for preparing a holiday meal. The house has great amenities and is an easy walk to the beach. We would love to stay here again.

Best stay I’ve had in the OBX. We’ve rented a lot of houses here over the years and the group consensus was that this was one of the cleanest and nicest. You can tell it’s well maintained by the owners. Megan was great to work with and very responsive to any questions we had. The house is in a great location and the lots are big so you’re not right on top of your neighbor. There’s a foot path to the beach practically right off the driveway and it’s close to the stores and restaurants. Hot tub was awesome. Kids especially loved having their own “big kid” bunk room. After staying further south for many years, we’ll be returning to Corolla. Highly recommend this house.

Our stay at Go Your Own Wave was wonderful! The one word I would use to describe the property is, comfortable. It has everything you need. It was clean and everything was in working order. It was an easy walk to the beach, within 15 minutes of opening your eyes in the morning you could be at the beach with coffee in hand to watch the sunrise! We did almost every day. The house itself is in transition and the new owners are doing great at updating the property. We all enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and outside shower. Star gazing from the upper deck (decks galore, front, back, side) was an evening highlight (seeing the Milky Way and the ISS was pretty cool). We rented bikes and enjoyed biking in the neighborhood of Whalehead and Corolla. It’s a very family friendly neighborhood. The beach is nice with many public access points. Coral, the closest access path to the beach is only two houses down, and has just been renovated to include bike parking and a shower station! The owners are very easy to communicate with and the check in/out process was a breeze. We all had a very enjoyable week in a very comfortable home! Go Your Own Wave is a “home” we would go to again!

We loved having the pool and hot tub as well as access to the many beach items in the carport shed…from several beach chairs, sand toys, wagon, corn hole Etc. Make your own Wave was a lovely property/house. We were 4 adults, 3 teenage boys and 2 dogs. Everything was perfect when we arrived. House was clean, pool and hot tub were ready to use and contact-less check-in was a breeze. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes/glasses/pots/pans/ utensils/ appliances you could possibly need. (You do need to bring your own kitchen towels and dishcloths.) We spent a lot of time on the decks around the exterior of the house. Loved the hammock! There were plenty of beach chairs in the storage closet and other assorted beach items. Our two dogs enjoyed the front yard for playing ball and chasing each other around. One teeny, tiny thing...the nearest walkway to the beach was closed for reconstruction, so we had to walk a few extra steps to get to the beach. The gift certificate for Lighthouse Bagels was a nice touch. They were delicious, but know that there is a line of people, even if you arrive just when it opens! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Make your own Wave and would highly recommend!

We couldn't have had a better stay! Property owners were great and went above and beyond. Communication was excellent. We had 8 in our group and had plenty of extra space, especially with a 22 month old. Clean and well stocked. Loved the different deck levels as there was always an area for shade, rocking or in the hammock. Pool was great although we didn't use it much with the beach so close. The hot tub was enjoyed. The lid needed to be replaced, but the owners were quick to notify us that a new one had been ordered and they even sent someone out to check on it while we were there. It was not an issue but we appreciated the notification. You will not find any better communication or quick responses to any of your needs at any OBX rental. If you have a family outing this is the place you want. Very Clean! The kitchen was not lacking for anything. Baby and toddler equipment was appreciated with high chairs, cribs, pack and play, gates and all needed baby safety protocols. Plenty of chairs and beach toys for all and the walk to the beach was short along an easily accessible boardwalk. The Sunday - Sunday dates worked out well and avoided the huge rush on Saturdays. The beach was not very crowded at all!! Plenty of room. We traveled back on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend and it worked out well as most people were traveling that Saturday. Book this place!!! You will not regret it and you will make memories to last a lifetime.

Megan's house, Go Your Own Wave, was just wonderful for our April Vacation week! She was kind enough to open the pool and hot tub early for us, which I was able to surprise my kids with and they loved having access to both all week :) The pictures online are before many, many recent updates, so the house far exceeds the impression the pictures give. All new floors and carpets, all new furniture in the Great Room, etc..... Just beautiful! We were lucky enough to be the first guests of the season, and everything was clean, comfortable, and cozy. We actually ended up scrapping a lot of our plans for the week and just enjoyed relaxing at the house and walking to the beach. The kitchen has plenty of supplies for cooking if needed, and the house guide Megan has put together is incredibly helpful and comprehensive - one of the best I've seen in all the VRBO houses I have stayed in over the years. Megan is also really great about answering questions and getting back to guests quickly if there is an issue. The updates look fantastic, but the house also still maintains its original beach house charm. Whalehead Beach is also a lovely neighborhood to stay in in Corolla, close to lots of conveniences and plenty of beach access spots to walk to drive to to get to the long. wide gorgeous beach. We were incredibly happy with our stay, and hope to go back sometime in the future! Thanks for everything, Megan!

We booked Go Your Own Wave for Thanksgiving and had a great time. The house was clean on arrival and has enough space for everyone to spread out so you don’t feel on top of each other—a definite necessity when traveling with extended family! The kitchen had everything needed to prepare a holiday meal for a crowd. The hot tub was a nice treat and my son loved that it had color changing lights. The owners provided a lot of items for babies and toddlers which came in handy for our group. They were also very responsive to any questions we had. We’re coming back to Corolla this summer and decided to rebook Go Your Own Wave. Can’t wait to come back.

The house was beautiful and close to everything we needed. Everything was clean and ready when we arrived. Having the private pool and hot tub was great. We did not have small children with us, but there were clean high chairs that looked almost new, if you have young children in your group. The neighborhood was very quiet and nice, and it is a fairly short walk to the beach. The owner/manager checked in with us when we arrived, and was very quick to answer any questions. We had no problems during our stay, but just from the ease of communication with the owners, I am sure anything would have been handled promptly. Our family really enjoyed our vacation, and will look to stay here again when we return.

We had a great time here. This is a great home for families. The outdoor amenities were a big hit with the kids and adults alike. We spent afternoons in the pool, had dinner on the deck, and relaxed in the hot tub at night. It was also nice that they had high chairs and baby gates for our toddler as well as chairs and toys for the beach since we flew and couldn’t bring any of that with us. Easy commute from Norfolk airport. We just rebooked for next summer.

My family and I just spent the week here and had such a wonderful time. The house had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed having the pool and the hot tub. The beach access was very nearby which made it very convenient for walking back and forth. Having the beach wagon, chairs and umbrella made things so convenient as we would not have had room in our car. Check in and check out were so easy. Megan was such a pleasure to communicate with during the rental process and even checking in on us while we were there. We enjoyed being treated to bagels as well. Our family had a wonderful time at Go Your Own Wave, so much that we’ve already booked again for next year! Pride in ownership is apparent, as the new hosts have obviously updated a ton of stuff. The whole home is spacious and decorated with fun beach themes. We were very pleased with how clean it was on arrival. The new mattresses were comfy, and it was a nice treat that sheets and bath towels were provided so it was one less thing to pack. The main living level is very open and a great gathering spot for meals or hanging out. The kitchen was well equipped for serving a crowd. We especially loved lounging on the decks to watch sunrises/sets and dining outside almost every night. The pool/hot tub area is awesome!! New furniture and grill were great and it is surrounded by trees on three sides for nice privacy from your neighbors. The walk to the beach couldn’t have been more convenient. A few steps up the street there is a short boardwalk path that cuts directly to the ocean. The owners were very thoughtful in providing a welcome book that explains how different components of the home work (AC, internet, etc.) and were very helpful and responsive to any questions we had. They even sent us a gift from Lighthouse Bagels, which was a delicious treat and nice surprise! We can’t wait to see what updates they make for next year. Can’t recommend enough.

The place was great! The pictures don’t necessarily do it justice. I was very pleasantly surprised by the size of the living room/kitchen areas. Our host was very accommodating and quickly responded to any inquiries we had. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

The owners were fantastic. We were very pleased with the property and all of the beach accessories provided. The access walk to the beach is a stones throw away and super easy to haul everything needed for a day in the sun. The pool was the perfect size for our kiddos to splash around in and the hot tub was great too! Located very conveniently near a grocery store, some souvenir shops and restaurants but far enough away that it felt more isolated and private. We would absolutely book this house again!

We had a wonderful time with out family here! Great location to the beach. Easy walk with a wagon :) Pool was great for the kids! Only suggestion would to have a patio table and chairs down by the grill :) Owners were awesome and super responsive!

We have vacationed in OBX for years. This house was a very pleasant surprise. House was clean and well equipped, especially the kitchen for those who prefer to stay in and cook. Owners have taken alot of pride in their place and the improvements made we great. We did not have any toddlers, but house was well equipped for little ones if you need it!! The availability of pool and beach equipment was great, so happy a wagon was made available. The upstairs was spacious and the outside decks on the top floor were awesome, and actually extended out the living space nicely. The owner was supportive and responsive to any needs we had, which was a nice touch. Walk to beach was ok, proximity to the beach access was great, but walk was on the longer side. Would definitely recommend this place!

My family had a great week at “Go your own Wave”. The house had plenty of room and was very clean. Having a path to the beach very close to the house was nice. Megan was awesome in helping find and return my daughters laptop that was left behind. We will be back for sure!

Overall, my favorite OBX vacation stay to date. The house was a short walk from the beach and conveniently located near the grocery store and Corolla attractions. We were able to explore Duck, see the Currituck Lighthouse and even ventured out to the Aquarium, which was nearly empty at 9:30am. The house was appropriately stocked with baby items which made packing for travel with a 19mo much easier. I love the keyless check-in. All necessary appliances and features were in working order. Although it was still May, we were able to enjoy a few days in the pool. The hot tub was a nice relaxing experience for the grandparents! The manager, Megan, was super responsive throughout our entire visit. They even provided a yummy bagel treat as a thank you, and the bagels were the best we have had. Excellent stay for all!
